EXPO 2005
Aichi, Nagoya, Japan - A case study
Preparation work
started in Singapore in early January 2005. The objective was to
artistically and technically produce an immense multimedia theatrical show that
will be the exposition's highlight - Robert Wilson's "In The Evening at Koi Pond".
Several tons of
equipment were seamlessly coordinated and shipped from Germany, Italy,
UK, USA, Australia and Singapore to Nagoya. The equipment included a 60m water-screen, 4 sets of 25,000 ANSI Lumens
Christie Digital Roadie 25K
DLP projectors, 4
sets of 20W laser systems, 4 sets of
Pandora multimedia playback
boxes, 2 sets of
Grand-MA show controllers, rigs, kilometers of fiber
optic cables, marine cables, network peripherals and computer hardware. |

The initial setup
involved building the 6 ton water-screen pontoon and underwater
construction works had to be carried out in the pond's freezing waters. This includes constructing the pump room, piping and
power room. Next was the installation of the Christie projectors and
laser system. Finally, all the necessary AV gear, signal and network
cables were put in as these carried the main show protocols (both wired
and wireless) to all the audio, video, lighting, lasers, screen,
mechanical and remote fixtures. |
